STEM Professionals Advancing Research and changemaKing (SPARK) Lecture Tour

The CISE-Atlantic SPARK Lecture Tour Award recognizes outstanding STEM professionals in Atlantic Canada. Along with recognition, the Award supports a series of lectures for awardees to share their research across the region. 

The inaugural 2025 awardee is Dr. Hilding Neilson, an astrophysicist and Mi’kmaw scientist at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. Dr. Neilson is dedicated to bridging Indigenous knowledge and astronomy, and reshaping how we understand the cosmos through the lens of Indigeneity. His research explores stellar physics, exoplanets, and the narratives stars tell.

As part of the 2025 SPARK Lecture Tour, Dr. Neilson will be delivering five lectures across Atlantic Canada, sharing his groundbreaking insights and inspiring the next generation of scientists.

ACT Conference 2027

 The Atlantic ConnecTions (ACT) Conferences provide women and gender diverse individuals opportunities to come together for action and systemic change in Science, Engineering, Trades and Technology (SETT). CISE-Atlantic will continue to support these biannual conferences.

Dr. MAA Conference Grant

The Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour National Conference Grant is administered by the NSERC Chairs for Women in Science and Engineering and Chairs for Inclusion in Science and Engineering (CWSE-CISE) Network. The Grant supports the organization of non-profit national conferences and workshops, either in-person or virtual, which contribute to the advancement and retention of women in STEM in Canada.

Intake periods are:

  • January 7 to January 15
  • May 7 to May 15
  • September 7 to September 15
